Seat Of Wisdom is a colourful representation of the artist’s respect for the power of education. The artist points out that, “education is fundamental. You need a good education to grow and succeed.” Of his stylistic choices he says that he intentionally started the painting from the neck down to show that knowledge is unseen and personal to the individual, however it is gained through hard work and diligence. “When you invest in a girl, you invest in a nation”, says Ogunlade, which is why the concept of knowledge and education is represented by a female figure. In essence, this painting shows the importance of the relentless search for wisdom and the sacrifices one must make to attain it.
