| Fortune Ossai is an Impressionist visual artist who has been practising professionally since 2005. He is a graduate of Yaba College of Technology’s School of Art, a decision which was motivated by this lifelong love affair with art. Growing up, Ossai drew inspiration from everyday happenings, being particularly drawn to the nuances of human nature. The way people navigated different situations and environments moved him, and still does to this day. A multi-dimensional artist, Ossai is also a photographer, illustrator and art director, having worked in Advertising for a short period. Ossai has also featured in a number of group exhibitions and is looking forward to his first solo exhibition in 2021. “I took interest in impressionism because I felt the strokes on those paintings represented freedom, expressiveness in tough times,” muses Ossai. His paintings reflect the “energy put in to survive, to excel, even in the face of unforgiving conditions.” Ossai prefers his work to speak positivity, believing that beautiful stories spread beautiful energy and encourage people to be more positive in turn, and this is a common theme throughout his work. |
